Biography of 2nd Lieutenant Peter Taylor

Peter Taylor was born 3rd April 1893 in Falkirk, the second youngest son of Peter. He attended Falkirk High School.

In 1911 he came to the University of Glasgow to study for an MA. He took a variety of subjects including: Latin, English and Logic. He was particularly adept at Maths and Natural Philosophy, both of which he took to high level. Peter was also a keen cricketer and played for the East Stirlingshire Cricket Club. On 20th November 1915 he graduated MA.

Following the outbreak of war he joined the Cameronians and was in the 4th battalion, attached to the 2nd. In July 1915, before he even graduated he had been gazetted as a 2nd lieutenant. Peter was killed in action, aged 23, on the 8th August 1916. He is buried in Vermelles British Cemetery.
