Biography of Private John Stevenson

John Stevenson was born in Hamilton, Lanarkshire to Grace and Thomas who worked as a General Manager and Agent.

In 1913 John came to the University of Glasgow to study Medicine and took courses in Anatomy and Physiology. He was also a member of the Officer Training Corps.

John did not finish his studies as in 1915 he enlisted in the Royal Army Medical Corps and was stationed in the Maryhill barracks. Here he contracted pneumonia, dying at Stobhill Hospital on 13th March 1916 aged 19. He is buried close to his family home in Hamilton.
