Biography of Lance Corporel John Ralston

John Ralston was born in Pollockshaws to Isabella and William. The family lived in Shawlands and William worked as a upholsterer and manufacturer of furnishings and trimmings.

John came to the University of Glasgow in 1913 and took Maths and French, both of which he passed. He may have been intending to get a degree but this was not to be as he joined the army upon the outbreak of war.

John was a Lance Corporal in the 6th Cameron Highlanders and fought at the Battle of Loos where he died on the 26th September 1915.
