Robert Chalmers Anderson
Surgeon Lieutenant-Commander Robert Chalmers Anderson of the RNVR was born in Glasgow. He attended the High School of Glasgow from 1919 to 1927 and graduated MB, ChB from the University in 1933. He was a house surgeon at the Royal Alexandra Infirmary in Paisley.

Anderson was appointed a Surgeon-Lieutenant in the RNVR during the war. He was posted to the aircraft carrier HMS Hermes and saw service with his ship off the West Coast of Africa and in the Indian Ocean. He was reported missing, believed killed, after HMS Hermes was sunk by Japanese torpedo bombers off the coast of Ceylon on 9 April 1942.
