James Gillespie Slimon

Surgeon Lieutenant-Commander James Gillespie Slimon was born in Kirkintilloch and studied at the University, graduating MB, ChB in 1929. He became a Surgeon Lieutenant in the Royal Navy and was awarded a Diploma in Tropical Medicine by the University of Liverpool in 1936.

Slimon served aboard the light cruiser HMS Edinburgh during the war. He was killed in a train accident on 14 December 1939.
