Randolph Murray

Lieutenant Randolph Murray was born in Glasgow and was the third son of C.R Murray, a steel merchant and local Councillor. They resided at Woodbank, 56, Partickhill Rd, Glasgow. Prior to enrolling at the University of Glasgow, Randolph was educated at Glasgow Academy and Christ Church, Oxford.

Randolph first enrolled at the University aged 17 to study for an Arts degree in 1913, taking classes in Latin, Greek and Elementary Italian. The outbreak of war prevented Randolph from completing his degree, and Randolph enlisted in the army to serve with the Cameron Highlanders sixth battalion. He was killed in action on the 27th of October, 1917, and is commemorated at the Level Crossing Cemetery, Fampoux, France.
