William Sinnott Lomax
Student
William Sinnott Lomax was born in 1889 to William and Christine Lomax. He was a member of the Officer Training Corps between 1911 and 1914, when he enlisted in the 3rd Bn. Royal Scots Fusiliers. He served in France, attached to the 7th Battalion, and died there at the Somme on the 30th July, 1916.

His younger brother, James Barrett Lomax, served as a Private in the 11th Bn. Royal Scots and was killed fighting in Belgium on the 25th October 1918. The family lived at 21 Windsor Street, Glasgow. In addition to William’s commemoration at Thiepval, and his brother’s grave at Moorseele Military Cemetery in Belgium, the family raised a headstone commemorating the lives of the brothers at St Kentigern’s Cemetery at Maryhill.
