George Arthur Stevenson was born 21st December 1889 in West Hartlepool, Durham to William Stevenson (a Collector of Customs in Inverness and member of the Royal Naval Reserve) and Mary Stevenson.

In 1909 George came to the University of Glasgow to study Engineering. He was a successful student and won a prize in Electrical Engineering in 1912. He graduated with a BSc in Engineering on 16th November 1912.

During his time at the University he had been a member of the University Officer Training Corps. Upon the outbreak of war he was gazetted to the 3rd East Yorkshire Regiment and was attached to the 1st. 2nd Lieutenant George Arthur Stevenson died of his wounds in Boulogne on the 9th May 1915, aged 25.

2nd Lieutenant George Arthur Stevenson is buried in the Boulogne Eastern Cemetery, Boulogne, France.
