Robert Frank Fergusson

Robert Frank Fergusson was born on 6th April 1893 in Ayr, Ayrshire. Robert was the eldest son of David Fergusson, Solicitor, and Mary K. Fergusson (nee Galloway) of 7 Park Terrace, Ayr. Robert attended Ayr Academy where he was known for being a distinguished student.

In 1910 Robert came to the University of Glasgow to study Law, taking subjects such as; Scots Law, Jurisprudence and Civil Law. A bright student, he won two prizes for his classes in Conveyancing and Mercantile Law. Although it appears he didn't graduate, he did work as a law clerk for Messrs Russell & Duncan, Solicitors on Vincent Street.

Robert was a member of the University's Officer Training Corps in 1913-1914 and during the war fought in the 5th Bn. Royal Scots Fusiliers. Lieutenant Robert Frank Fergusson died on 12th July 1915, aged 22, at Gallipoli. Lieutenant Robert Frank Fergusson is remembered on a Special Memorial in the Redoubt Cemetery, Helles, Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey.
