Roll of Honour
2nd Lieutenant
Thomas Cameron Kelly
Student
Thomas Cameron Kelly was born 23rd September 1896 to Anne Cameron and Thomas Kelly, a Chartered Accountant. The family lived in Kelvinside, Glasgow.
Thomas was educated at Glasgow Academy and apprenticed to his father who worked as a Bailie. It is unclear whether he actually attended the University of Glasgow as a student; he passed his preliminary examinations in September 1913 but there is no record of his attendance. Thomas was a member of the University's Officer Training Corps in 1914.
In 1914 he was gazetted to the 14th Northumberland Fusiliers and he was later transferred to the 16th Highland Light Infantry as a 2nd Lieutenant. He fell in action on 27th March 1916 in France and is buried in Becourt Military Cemetery.
