The Mace
The Records of the Congregations of the College of Glasgow reported that "David de Cadzow", having been elected Rector, gave 20 nobles (a noble was a Scots gold coin) towards the making of a University mace.

A Drummond Duff
Reverend A Drummond Duff was among the repatriated prisoners-of-war welcomed at Leith by Lady Darling. Duff was the minister of Mearns Church in Newton Mearns, Glasgow, and was a graduate of the University. He had been serving as senior chaplain in the 51st Division when he was captured by the German Army at St Valery in the summer of 1940.
Duff had served in the First World War as a combatant officer in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, when he was wounded and lost his arm.
