Edmund Burke
The politician and philosopher Edmund Burke (1729-1797) was installed as Rector of the University. He is reported to have ended his address in the Common Hall abruptly after about five minutes, apologising later that he "had never before addressed so learned an audience".

Caeserean Sections
Murdoch Cameron carried out the first Caesarean Section under modern antiseptic conditions. The operation was performed on Catherine Colquhoun at the Glasgow Royal Maternity Hospital (popularly known as "Rottenrow").

Application by SRC for use of Hunterian Library for Dance
There was a submitted letter, dated 10th April, 1907, from the Students' Representative Council, requesting permission to use the Hunterian Library on the evening of the Students' Dance on 24 April. The Court regretted that they were unable to grant use of the Hunterian Library, but directed the Secretary to reply that they are quite agreeable to grant the use of the Randolph Hall, the Court Room, and the corridor adjoining.
