Politics (Edward Caird Chair)
Description
A lectureship in Political Philosophy was founded in 1909 and endowed from funds raised to commemorate the services of Edward Caird (1835-1908), Professor of Moral Philosophy from 1866 to 1893. The lectureship was replaced in 1960 by a Chair of Political and Social Theory, the name of which was changed in 1965 to Political and Social Philosophy and in 1970 to Politics.
