Description
The Alec Cairncross Chair of Applied Economics was named for Sir Alec Cairncross (1911-1998), who was a student and a Professor at the University, and was Chancellor from 1972 to 1996. The Chair had been founded in 1949 as the Chair of Applied Economics, and was named for Sir Alec in 2004 under Court Resolution 506.
