BLAINE, Benjamin-Benjamin BLAINE, son of Mr. George Blaine of Weltondale, King William's Town, along with his two brothers whose names follow below, attended the school and higher classes from January 1872 to June 1876, and also during a part of 1877. He passed thirteenth in the first class, University School Examination, April 1875. In 1878 he went to Glasgow University to study medicine and graduated there, and later on studied also at Dublin and Vienna. He was a distinguished student, gaining several medals and obtaining certificates of distinction in Clinical Surgery. Was for some time House Surgeon in Royal Infirmary, Glasgow. Has recently returned to this country, and is practicing on the frontier, being at present District Surgeon at Engcobo. Address:--Engcobo, Transkei. His son in South African Infantry died in WWI on 12/10/1916
