Biography of Agnes Miller

Agnes Eleanora Miller (1898-1994) was a Lecturer in the Department of Zoology until her retirement in 1963.

Born in Dunipace, Miller matriculated at the University intending to study Medicine but became interested in Zoology. She graduated MA in 1920 and became first a Demonstrator in the department, and then in 1924 an Assistant Lecturer. She was appointed a Lecturer in 1929.

Miller's primary research interests were in the development of archaic vertebrates, particularly lungfish and sharks, and the comparative anatomy and development of birds. She was awarded a PhD by the University in 1962 for her thesis Studies in Dipnoan Structure.

After her retirement from her University post, Miller taught for four and a half years at Paisley College.
