Addison 1727-1897 reads: Eldest son of John, a merchant in Crieff. Born at Crieff, 28th February 1748. DD 1800. Sometime Preacher in the College Chapel, Glasgow. Minister of (1) Baldernock, 1777-82, (2) St Enoch's, Glasgow, 1782-1825. Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, 1806. One of H.M. Chaplains in Ordinary for Scotland, 1812. Son in law of Richard Allan (entry no 1085), whose daughter Christian he married on 6th March 1786; brother in law of Richard Allan (entry no 2544), William Allan (no 3524), Thomas Allan (no 3568); father of John Taylor (no 6279), Richard Taylor (no 6284), William Taylor (no 6546), James Taylor (no 8161).
