Margaret Green Cormack

Born on 24 October 1888, Margaret Green Cormack was the daughter of Walter - a Commission Agent - and Maggie Cormack. She grew up in Kirkhill House, Wick, in Caithness, with her parents and older brother James (b. 1886).

At the age of 23, Margaret left the Highlands to study an Arts degree at the University of Glasgow. For the first two years of her degree she studied French and German, before taking English, Logic, and Botany in her final year. A resit in Logic delayed her graduation, but her otherwise good grades ensured she achieved a Master of Arts degree on 20 November 1915.

After graduation, Margaret moved back to her family home in Wick, where she became a teacher.
