Biography of Lachlan Campbell McGoun

Lachlan Campbell McGoun matriculated at the University in 1831.

He was the second son of Duncan, a Glasgow merchant.

McGoun went to New York, where he became a member of the Saint Andrews Society of New York until 1850 when he went to Mexico. He was a merchant or ranchman at Guanajuato. In 1868 he returned to Scotland and married Ellen Bell at St John’s Episcopal Church, Edinburgh, on 30 January 1868. Bell died at Guanajuato, on 4 January 1869, after giving birth to two daughters.
