Andrew Johnston
Biography of Andrew Johnston
Andrew Johnston matriculated as an Arts student at the University in 1829.
He was the eldest son of John, a farmer in Leswalt, Wigton.
Johnston was a probationer of the Secession Church. Upon his ordination in 1837, he went to Brazil as chaplain to a mining company, Returning to Scotland, Johnston was teacher to the Canongate Charity workhouse, Edinburgh before becoming the minister of the Parish of Kinglassie from 1848. He died there on 18 December 1882, aged 69.
