Biography of Emma Ruppersberg

Emma Ruppersberg came to the University of Glasgow in 1908 at the age of 20. She joined the Arts faculty and studied English Literature for one year. During this time, Ruppersberg resided in the care of Ludwig Becker, the popular German-born Regius Professor of Astronomy from 1893 to 1935.

Ruppersberg was born in 1888 to Emilie and Albert, a professor, in Saarland. The family lived in Saarbr├╝cken.

Ruppersberg returned to Germany and married Johannes Gustav Martin Schlott in her hometown on 9 July 1909. Schlott was a German evangelical vicar who had ministered to sailors in Glasgow. In 1911 the couple moved to Braunschweig, where Schlott took up a post at St Katherinen Evangelical and Lutheran Church.

Ruppersberg died on New Year's Eve, 1974, in Mascherode, Braunschweig.
