Biography of Colin Blane

Colin Blane received the honorary degree of DLitt from the University of Glasgow on Wednesday 18th June 2014 for his services to broadcasting.

He was educated at Eastwood High School before entering the University of Glasgow and he graduated with an MA Hons in Medieval and Modern History in 1976.

Since 1979 Blane has worked as a journalist for the BBC in Scotland and overseas. He was been the East Africa Correspondent, the Europe Correspondent, and is presently the Scotland Correspondent at BBC Scotland.
