Biography of Cambell A G Stirling

Campbell Stirling graduated MA from the University in 1824 and MD in 1827. He was the only son of advocate Sir Samuel Stirling, sixth Baronet of Glorat.

Matriculating at the University of Glasgow in 1819, Stirling first studied for an MA, before continuing on to study Theology from 1824 to 1826, and Medicine from 1826 to 1827.

Almost immediately after graduating, Stirling travelled to the West Indies, where he had family connections who owned estates on Tobago. His uncle, John Stirling of the Royal Navy, died in Tobago at his sister's residence, Ann Napier, in 1837; and his cousin, James Lapslie, a student in 1812, also died at Tobago in 1819.

Stirling's wife, Louisa Desvignes, died at Windsor Cottage, Tobago, on 21 August 1845.
