Biography of Caroline Jane Maclennan
Caroline Jane Maclennan graduated MB ChB from the University in 1919.
She was born around 1886 in Stornoway, Quebec, Canada, daughter of James McEwan, a clergyman both in Thurso and Caithness to where the family moved.
Maclennan was 18 when she first enrolled at the University of Glasgow in 1914, one year before her sister, Alexandrena Miller. Maclennan studied a wide variety of subjects including Zoology and Chemistry (1914-15); Physiology, Anatomy and Pharmacy (1915-16); Pathology (1916-17); and Medicine, Surgery and Clinical Medicine (1917-18), graduating in 1919.
On 28 November 1925, Maclennan married fellow medical practitioner Thomas Anthony Black, in Croydon, Surrey.
