Biography of Tadeusz Bronisław Jawor
Tadeusz Bronisław Jawor graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1949 with a BSc in Electrical Engineering. He came from Otocznia in Poland and his father, also named Tadeusz, was a colonel in the Polish Army.
Jawor matriculated at the Faculty of Engineering in 1941, aged 18, and attended classes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering Drawing, General Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design and Advanced Mathematics, among others. His studies were funded by a scholarship from the Interim Treasury Committee.
After graduating, Jawor worked as an engineering test room assistant in London. From the late 1950s onwards he also invented several electrical devices, for which he received US and UK patents.
Although retired, Jawor took up the offer of a five-year position in Sydney with Rothman’s in 1982. He settled with his family in Strathfield, New South Wales, where he died in 2003.
