Biography of Marion Crosley

Marion Crosley enrolled at the University for one year in 1883, aged 47, to study Divinity and Ethics under Professor Edward Caird.

Crosley, the son of a farmer, came to Glasgow from Utica, New York, as a Universalist minister to serve in the absence of Caroline Soule, the first woman to be ordained as a minister in the UK and minister at St Paul's Universalist Church in Pitt Street, Glasgow.

The Crosley Lecture, established in 1984 on the subject of ethics at the University of New England, is named in his memory as a board member of the Westbrook Seminary between 1885 and 1889.
