Peter Brown

Peter Melville Brown was Stevenson Professor of Italian at the University from 1975 to 1995.

Brown was a graduate of Magdalen College, Oxford (BA, 1952) and pursued his studies in Italy. He was appointed an assistant lecturer at the University of Aberdeen in 1955, subsequently becoming Senior Lecturer and Head of Department, and went to Hull as Professor of Italian in 1972.
