Biography of Allan Galloway
Allan Douglas Galloway (1920-2006) was a graduate of the University and Professor of Divinity from 1968 until 1982. He was Principal of Trinity College from 1972 until 1982 and the Gifford Lecturer at Glasgow in 1984.
Galloway studied at the University and at Christ's College Cambridge and the Union Theological Seminary in New York. He was Assistant Minister at Port Glasgow, 1948 to 1950 and Minister of Auchterhouse from 1950 to 1954, when he went to Nigeria as Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Ibadan. He returned to Glasgow in 1960 as Senior Lecturer and then Reader in Divinity, before his appointment to the Chair.
