James Wemyss
Biography of James Wemyss
James Wemyss was appointed Professor of Divinity at the University in 1688. In 1689, however, with Principal James Fall and one of the regents, Wemyss declined to take the Oath of Allegiance to King William III, to sign the Confession of Faith or to accept the Presbyterian form of church government, and gave up his Chair.
