Biography of Anthony Eccles
Anthony John Eccles was Professor of Business Policy from 1975 to 1978.
Eccles was an apprentice engineer and then a ship's officer before he studied at the University of Liverpool, graduating in 1957 with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering. He worked in sales for Great Universal Stores and, from 1958, in operations management for Unilever. He was a senior tutor and then Senior Lecturer in Business Environment at the Manchester Business School from 1967 until his appointment to the Chair at Glasgow.
In 1978, Eccles left Glasgow to join the London Business School as Professor of Business Administration. He was subsequently Professor of Strategic Management and directed its Centre for Management Development, Senior Executive Programme, Sloan International Fellowship Masters Programme and International Executive Masters Programme. He has worked as a television presenter and co-founded two television production companies.
