James Service Ormond

Biography of James Service Ormond

James Service Ormond graduated MB ChB from the University in 1897 and MD in 1899. He was born in Northcote, Victoria, Australia in 1863, and educated at Toorak College and Hawthorn Grammar School.

Before coming to the University, Ormond worked for a time as an overseer at Tapio sheep station, near Wentworth, New South Wales. After receiving his medical training, Dr Ormond practiced in the Malvern district of Melbourne for nearly fifty years, retiring in 1949, aged eighty-six.
