Biography of Sidney Gray

Sidney John Gray (b 1942) was Professor of Accountancy at the University from 1979 until 1992, and Head of Department from 1980 to 1987.

Gray graduated BSc from the University of Sydney and PhD from the University of Lancaster. He worked in business until 1972, when he became a tutor in accounting at the University of Sydney, and he was a lecturer at the University of Lancaster from 1974 until he was appointed to the Chair at Glasgow in 1978. He left the University in 1992 to become Professor of International Business at the University of Warwick, and subsequently returned to Australia as Professor of International Business at the University of New South Wales, 1999-2003, and then Professor of International Business at the University of Sydney.
