John Dickinson
Biography of John Dickinson
John Philip Dickinson (1945- ) was Professor of Accountancy at the University from 1985 to 1992. He was Director of the Glasgow Business School, 1987 to 1989; Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance, 1987 to 1991, and Dean of the Faculty of Law and Financial Studies from 1989 until 1992.
A graduate of the Universities of Cambridge (MA) and Leeds (MSc and PhD), Dickinson was a lecturer in Accountancy at Leeds from 1968 to 1971 and then at the University of Lancaster. He was appointed Senior Lecturer at the University of Western Australia in 1975, then came to Scotland in 1980 as Senior Lecturer at Dundee and Professor of Accounting at the University of Stirling, 1981 to 1985.
Dickinson left Glasgow in 1992 to become Principal of King Alfred's College, Winchester.
