Biography of Gilbert Forbes

Gilbert Forbes (1908-1986) was a University graduate who was Regius Professor of Forensic Medicine from 1964 to 1974.

Forbes was educated at Hillhead High School and studied at the University, graduating BSc (1930), MB, ChB (1933) and MD (1945). He became Police Surgeon to the City of Sheffield and a lecturer in Forensic Medicine at the University of Sheffield in 1937, becoming Senior Lecturer there in 1948 and Reader in 1956, before his appointment to the Chair at Glasgow in 1964.
