Biography of Stanley Everard Lewis

Stanley Everard Lewis graduated MBChB from the University in 1902. He was born in Mandeville, Jamaica, son of James Daly, a solicitor.

After graduation, Lewis joined the Royal Army Medical Corps as Lieutenant in 1903. As a Captain, he was stationed at Standerton, Transvaal, before achieving the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1926.

Lewis served during WWI, and was mentioned in dispatches in the London Gazette (19 October 1914 and 1 January 1916) and awarded the Legion of Honour (Chevalier Legion D'epidemies). His is listed in the University's WWI Roll of Honour.

Lewis died at Shears Green, Gravesend, Kent on 23 November 1938.
