Biography of Robert Cumming Hamilton
Robert Cumming Hamilton was born in 1877 to James Hamilton, a mechanic. He became a prominent footballer of his day, most notably playing for Rangers. It was his move to Glasgow for his studies that precipitated him joining this team.
Robert started studying at the University of Glasgow in 1896, taking Maths. During this time he played for Queens Park Rangers. In his second year he moved to Rangers whilst studying Latin, Education and English. In his third year he took Greek, Logic and Chemistry. He completed his studies in 1899-1900 with Natural Philosophy. Robert graduated MA in April 1900.
As well as being one of Rangers' top goal scorers, Robert also played for Scotland, winning a total of eleven caps. After his retirement from football he became a teacher.
