Biography of Trevor Hoey

Trevor Hoey is Professor of Numerical Geoscience and Head of the School of Geographical and Earth Sciences.

In 1989, Hoey was awarded a PhD from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand and he became a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Geography in 1990. From 1990 to 1992 he worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the Department of Geography at the University of Sheffield.

Hoey joined the University in 1992 as Lecturer in Geography and was later promoted to Senior Lecturer. He was appointed Professor of Numerical Geoscience in 2003 and two years later became Head of Department, becoming Head of School on the restructuring in 2010.
