Helen Gow Cook, graduated from the University with First Class Honours in History in 1910.

She received several prizes during her time at Glasgow, in Logic and Metaphysics, Moral Philosophy, History and Constitutional Law, Education and History.

Upon graduating she went on to pursue a career in teaching and in 1915 she married fellow University of Glasgow History graduate and teacher, Alexander Dingwall.

Helen and Alexander had four children together, the youngest of which Helen later opened a boarding house with for the George Watson School in Edinburgh before moving to Wimbledon in the 1960s.
