James McIntosh
Biography of James McIntosh
James McIntosh is Emeritus Professor of Social Policy.
After joining the University's Social Paediatric and Obstetric Research Unit in 1977, McIntosh was involved in a variety of studies in the area of maternal and child health. In 1988, he joined the Department of Social Policy and Social Work as a Lecturer. He was Head of Department from 1993 to 1997 and again in 1999, and he was appointed to a personal professorship of Social Policy in 2000.
McIntosh has been conducting research into aspects of drug misuse since 1998 and became a full time member of the Centre for Drug Misuse Research in 2003. He retired from the University at the end of December 2007.
