Hugh Stirling Brown Nisbet graduated from the University MBCM in 1894. He was born on the 17th March 1861 in Ayrshire to Robert Nisbet. His brother Robert George Nisbet also attended the University and lecturered in the Humanities.

Nisbet first enrolled at the University in 1891 to study for a medical degree at the advanced age of 30. He resided at 56 Cadden Street, Govan with his family whilst he studied. He won many prizes during his time here, such as a High Commendation for his work in Clinical Surgery during his first year and a certificate in Materia Medica and Therapeutics in his second year. He was also awarded a certificate in Practical Pathology in his third year.

After graduating in 1894 Nisbet went on to become a medical practitioner in Glasgow. He died at Kype Rig, 102 Albert Rd, Crosshill, Glasgow at the early age of 45, of heart disease and pneumonia. He was buried at Strathaven Cemetery (South Lanarkshire) with his brother and his father.
