Agnes Salmon, née Picken (b 1880) graduated with an MA in Anatomy in 1903. On 1 October 1907 she became the first woman to be appointed as a lecturer's assistant at the University, when she became a demonstrator with Thomas Bryce. In 1909 she was appointed Tutor in Science and Medicine to women students at Queen Margaret College.

In 1917 Picken married James Salmon. She continued to work at Queen Margaret College until 1930.
