Biography of Andrew Ian Ross

Second Lieutenant Andrew Ian Ross was born in Tayport in 1919. He was educated at Hamilton Academy and Glasgow Academy. He graduated from the University in 1940 with an honours degree in Logic and Moral Philosophy.

Ross started training to be a Church of Scotland minister but joined the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders second battalion in March 1941. He served with the battalion in the Western Desert and was wounded in the attack on Bir el Gubi on 5 December 1941. He was killed by a bomb later that day at the Advanced Dressing Station.
