Biography of David Ronald MacKay

Midshipman David Ronald MacKay was born in Glasgow and studied Law at the University from 1937 until 1939, when he left to join the Merchant Navy as a cadet.

MacKay joined HMS Forfar, the former liner SS Montrose which had been converted to serve as an armed merchant cruiser. He was killed when Forfar was torpedoed and sunk by a U-Boat in the Atlantic on 2 December 1940.
