William MacFarlane
Biography of William MacFarlane
Pilot Officer William MacFarlane was born in Hamilton and studied at the University, graduating MA in 1941. He volunteered for service in the RAF and trained as a bomber pilot, before joining 61 Squadron. He died with the other members of his crew, when their Lancaster was shot down over Givry in Belgium on 17 April 1943.
