Biography of James Hunter
Lieutenant James Hunter of the 2nd Battalion The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) was born in Ayr. He graduated from the University with an MA in 1936. He served as a Platoon Commander in Sicily and was killed by a shell fragment on the Plain of Catania on 19 July 1943, while attempting to observe the origin of enemy fire.
