David Rutherford Gilmour
Biography of David Rutherford Gilmour
David Rutherford Gilmour was born in Burnbank, Lanarkshire and attended Hamilton Academy. He then studied in the Arts faculty of the University of Glasgow from 1940 - 42. He joined the Royal Scots while still a university student.
He became a Captain in the Indian Army and was awarded the 1939-43 Star. He developed acute appendicitis and died in Ceylon on 17th September 1945.
