Martha Brown
Biography of Martha Brown
Martha Brown (1808-1897) was a sister of Thomas Brown (1774-1853), a University graduate who became a physician and who was employed as a substitute lecturer in the University's Botany Department from 1799 to 1815. Martha inherited the estate when her brother died in 1853. She bequeathed £5,000 to the University to found a number of bursaries.
