Mary , Queen of Scots

Mary (1542-1587), Queen of Scots, reigned from her infancy until she was forced to abdicate in favour of her son in 1568. In 1563 she founded bursaries for "five pouir children", granting to the College the manse and kirkroom of Blackfriars in Glasgow; 13 acres of land; small annual sums formerly due to friars in Glasgow, and 10 bolls of meal. The land was subsequently let to the Town Council in return for 28 bolls of malt per annum.
