Biography of Queen Margaret

Queen Margaret Hall and the Queen Margaret Union are named for Margaret (d 1093), Queen of Scots, the wife of Malcolm III. She is remembered in a Life by Symeon of Durham and in the works of Medieval authors as a pious woman devoted to the Church and to charitable works. She founded several churches, including the Abbey of Dunfermline where she is buried. She was canonized by Pope Innocent XI in 1250 and the Feast of Saint Margaret is observed on 16 November.
