King George II

Biography of King George II

George II (1683-1760), King of Great Britain and Ireland and Elector of Hanover, was the son of George I. He founded the Chair of Practical Astronomy at the University in 1760, providing a yearly allowance of £50 for the post of professor and astronomical observer.
